Hi!  Welcome to my website.  I was first licensed with a General class license, W6ZSX in 1947 after WW 2 during which time I served in the U.S. Merchant Marines.  I was too young at that time to be drafted so I sneaked into the Maritime Service by making myself a few months older than I was.  I sailed on merchant ships toward the end of WW2 which carried war materials to the Pacific theater. I also served as an electronics technician on a Navy destroyer during the Korean War. After my navy service I returned to college and graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Civil Engineering.
Subsequently, I upgraded my Ham license to an Advance class and later to my current Extra class ticket and had my call changed to K6JE through up grading.
I was a founding member of the local Fremont Peak Repeater Association in 1977.  I am the current Trustee of the association's repeater, K6JE which operate open repeaters on 145.47 mhz and 441.45 mhz.  The PL's are 94.8 and 123.0, respectively. The association also operates a digipeater on 144.39.
Please check out our association's web site at
www.fremontpeak.org for further details and photo of the repeater site, located on the Gabilan range at an elevation of 3169 feet.  The peak is located between Hollister and Salinas.
